Our Approach

Footprints Early Learning Centre is a family owned and operated by Kylie & Gary Thorpe, established since 2007 Kylie Thorpe has been the dedicated Owner and Director of the Centre and believes connection is key to successful early years for children to thrive on education at a play-based learning Centre which is offered through our Curiosity Approach to learning. The dedicated team is built with two main rooms catering 14 months to 3 years and 3-6 years for successful development in social emotional and collaborative practice with families and communities in the local area.

CENTRES PHILOSOPHY

At our Centre, we embed the principles of SAIL – Safe, Included, Accepted and Learn into our daily pedagogy and interactions with children, families and educators.

We believe children learn best when they experience a strong sense of belonging, emotional security and connection within their learning environment.

Safe -We create environments where children feel physically, emotionally and culturally safe. Educators build trusting relationships, respond sensitively to children’s needs and provide predictable routines that support confidence and wellbeing. When children feel safe, they are more willing to explore, take risks in learning and develop independence.

Included -We value every child as an active participant in our learning community. Inclusive practices ensure all children, regardless of background, ability, culture, language, gender or family structure, have equitable opportunities to engage, contribute and succeed. We intentionally foster collaboration, respect and a sense of belonging for all.

Accepted -We recognise and celebrate each child’s individuality, strengths, identity and voice. Children are supported to express themselves authentically and feel respected for who they are. Through responsive and respectful relationships, educators nurture self-esteem, resilience and positive social connections.

Learn- When children feel safe, included and accepted, they are emotionally available and confident to engage in meaningful learning experiences. Our educators provide intentional teaching, play-based learning opportunities and supportive scaffolding that encourages curiosity, creativity and lifelong learning dispositions.

Why This Matters

SAIL underpins our commitment to the principles of the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority Early Years Learning Framework, particularly the outcomes relating to identity, wellbeing and belonging. By prioritising children’s emotional safety and inclusion, we create strong foundations for learning, development and positive relationships that support each child to thrive.

What Parents Think

I strongly recommend Footprints! They have shown my children so much love and support. Genuine people. They really care for each and every child. My children are so happy there, I wouldn't take them anywhere else.
